Novato AAUW and Tech Trek
What is Tech Trek?
The Novato branch enthusiastically supports AAUW of California’s Tech Trek summer science camp program.
In practical terms, this means
* Raising money to fund scholarships. More than 90% of the cost for each camper is covered by scholarship.
* Undertaking an intensive candidate search and screening process each year, starting with recommendations from seventh-grade math and science teachers.
Since 2005, Novato AAUW's Tech Trek scholarships have been given in memory of Kelly Potter, daughter of the branch's first Tech Trek coordinator, Sue Potter, who served in that capacity for many years. Kelly embodied all the goals of Tech Trek as she pursued her dream of a career in aviation; that pursuit was tragically cut short at the age of 24 when she succumbed to leukemia. (See more information about Kelly Potter.)
We are very pleased that in each of the last several years we have been able to send at least three Novato girls to the Tech Trek camp at the Stanford University campus.
