Special Interest Sections of Novato AAUW

Special Interest Sections offer all members a chance to network with associates, make new friends, stay in touch with old friends, gain new knowledge, sharpen acquired skills, or just enjoy a pleasurable time together.  Open to all members, these groups invite occasional or regular participation.

Antiques & Collectibles
Meetings feature presentations by a guest or member on antiques and collectibles.  Meetings are held on the first or second Wednesday evening of each month.  Occasionally, field trips are taken to local shows or shops.

Daytime Books
Read and discuss one book a month, occasionally branching out to articles, essays and poetry, and aiming to have a diverse selection of fiction and nonfiction, both serious and entertaining.  Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 12 noon.

Evening Books
Meets on the third Wednesday evening of each month for engaging discussions on a varied selection of books.  Books are scheduled only a few months in advance.  New members are very welcome.

Grandmas & Wannabes
This group is still in the process of formation.  If you have ideas or suggestions, do attend a meeting and share them.

Mah-jongg
Meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month to learn American Mah-jongg.  The afternoon session is full, but an evening session will be started if there are enough participants.

Movie Mania
Meets on the last Tuesday evening of the month for wide-ranging discussion of recent movies.  Participants discuss any interesting films they have seen during the month.

Potluck Gourmet
Meets from time to time on a Saturday evening (watch the newsletter) to share cuisine planned around a common theme.
